Now Is The Time To Do Something Different

One day you wake up and realize you are doing the same thing over and over. 

That’s literally how I felt. I would get up at 6 in the morning, get ready for work, pack my lunch, leave my home, drive to work, pass the same red truck turning off the same road at the same time everyday. I told myself I have to do something different. Even though I’m making enough money to support my current lifestyle I’m not being productive to my Spirit.  I believe we came here to create and be creatives. 

I’ve been thinking about this topic for the last couple years. There was a time when I was only focused on surviving.  My frame of mind was focused on shelter, clothing and food. I understand the mind of a person whose mentality is surviving and the mentality of a person who is living comfortably.  The person who is focused on surviving doesn’t have the luxury to explore their creative side.  When I say creative I’m referring to a person who is focusing on their gifts or talents.  Someone who is exploring ways to express their gift. 

Now I’m at the point of “living comfortably” I see life differently. I see myself differently. I see how I’m surrounded by a lot of things I don’t really need. For instance, do I need a choice of 50 different cereals? Do I need a shoe and shirt in every color? How many tv’s do I really need in my home? I can list many more since there are so many examples but I won’t. 

I’ve started to look at what I want from life and what I need in life. I decided that I don’t need the latest TV.  I’ve had the same television in my room for over 10 years. Everyone thinks I should get rid of it and get a new one. My response is always the same when I hear those comments. Why would I get a new tv when my current tv still works? Yes, it’s older but it still works. 

I’m no longer ok with using my money to support a lifestyle that isn’t fulfilling.  I’m thankful for this lifestyle because it has shown me a different picture of life. However, my creative nature is yelling NOW IS THE TIME TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I can no longer wake up and do the same thing over and over. This season of my life is fading and I’m looking forward to the next chapter.
